Our philosophiy

The word ,Quechua and Aymara ," AYNI" cannot be easily translated into one word in English.   It connote a fundamental concept of the Andean socio-economical system which establishes mutual support within a community made of reciprocity and solidarity. A rough translation in English would be, "Today for you, tomorrow for me."

What we do ?

At first the programs focused on providing support for the library-bus of Sucre. The itinerant library-bus would visit the peri urban zones daily . Progressively, in partnership with the Sucre city hall and the local peri urban zone associations, the project evolved to support the opening of four local neighborhood libraries in the Peri urban zones.

The ultimate goal of ANYI is to reduce the drop-out and failure rates in schools by providing better reading and studying spaces for kids in order to help them continue their education in the best conditions .

The libraries offer tutoring, a wide range of school manuals, classical works, local newspapers and other educational books including materials for the study of mathematics, sciences, reading and comprehension skills.

However, ANYI's work is not limited to providing a convivial and sharing place. The libraries also create social and cultural outreach programs in neighborhoods by sponsoring various educational activities including: sports, musical studios, outings to the cultural locations of the town and its surroundings, kite flying contest, mini cars contests...
